It's been a staple in bodybuilding for over a century for its effectiveness and versatility in building lean, defined muscle with that wiry, natural look.
Built for progression, this steel contraption has 7 springs with carabiner attachments, so you can remove or double up springs, adjusting the tension to suit your goals and experience level. When fully stretched, each spring provides 20lbs of resistance.
Beginners and pros alike can use this for curls, flyes, and rows or attach to a fixed point for presses. Grab two for even more versatility (shameless upsell!)
The chest expander offers consistent tension throughout the movement regardless of how many springs are attached, making it optimal over bands for bodybuilding.
The design hasn't changed much over the past century because it hasn't needed to, but we've thrown on rotating handles and knurling for that cherry on top of a swole sundae.
Watch your arm hair, though—and if you see Kaevon walking around looking smoother than a baby porpoise, mind your business.
IMPORTANT: Use a minimum of two springs on opposing ends of the handles to avoid over-stretching them. The warranty on the springs is 3 months, as they are considered a perishable item.

I can't speak highly enough regarding the fantastic customer service Bells of Steel provided, and the quality of this product. They made sure I received my chest expander in time for an upcoming work trip, and were prompt with responses and results. Regarding the quality of this equipment, I am impressed. The handles move effortlessly and exhibit tight tolerances which result in a complete lack of noise or drag, and zero rattle and play. The springs seem to be of high quality, and are uniform; I cannot yet speak to their lifespan.
I've experienced no hair pulling or skin pinching while using it so far, and the sound of the springs as they are spread makes me smile. This thing is a blast to use (especially with loud vintage hi-fi systems).
If BoS offers foot stirrups for these, I'll buy them, as I can absolutely see the potential for the handles to slip from under your foot while doing curls, lat raises, and the like.
I like the knurled handle just fine, but I'd pay for a wood or leather handled option or add on.
These are indeed compact enough to easily travel with, but I'll take it out of my bag while going through security to avoid any misunderstandings involving its appearance under x rays. Might pit the TSA against the luggage handlers in a cable pulling contest and beat 'em both! (a guy can dream, right?)
The equipment is made in China. Get over it. BoS brought this extremely high quality product to the market at a price a working person can afford, and that deserves…

I started out with a spring loaded chest expander in 1957.Then I went to fabric covered elastic bands.From there I came across the Roy H Noe flat bands which I used for many years,until I was unable to get replacement bands. I think mister Noe died,and no one took over his company.So, then I found the Mike Brown Samson cable sets which I purchased.However,he apparently closed his business, and I was not able to buy replacement cable.There for I recently found out about your expander,and decided to try it. I think that the rubber bands increase the tension quicker than the springs, but may be due to the fact that I have used them so long. I think that I have to get used to the tension on the springs before I can make a proper assessment on them. I think that your expander is extremely well made however. I like the fact that the handle rotates so smoothly. I would highly recommend it!

Outstanding. The other chest expander on the market is triple the price but I don't think it is triple the quality.
I've used it for 2 months now and I've seen massive improvements in upper back and rear delt muscles. The unique tension that this thing gives is nothing like I've ever felt before. The springs have not loss any tension in this time period. The build quality of the handles is good with very light knurling. I would have preferred slightly sharper knurling but it's not a big issue.
I would love to see replacement springs sold in case the springs degrade or break even though I think the springs are unlikely to break any time soon. Maybe one extra spring can be provided to the buyer?
